Our spiritual formation is much like plumbing: the concepts and "rules" are quite simple but small mistakes and neglect can be disastrous.  Spiritual formation always happens – we cannot choose whether or not it will happen, but we can choose to direct it towards Christ. If you are not directing your spiritual life with Jesus, then the world is directing you away from Him. This is the key: be intentional. Your life as a Jesus-follower is initiated by the Holy Spirit but it is dependent upon your active involvement and presence with Christ as a daily pattern or habit. In order to celebrate and encourage your personal engagement with Christ, St. John’s Parish has a number of events and programs. All of these activities at St John's, from Bible Studies to simple Pot Lucks are intentional efforts to help us be conformed to Christ and not to the world. We provide a variety of programs and experiences which encourage and teach individuals as they give every aspect of their lives to Jesus Christ. These include:

  • Sunday School

  • Fellowship Events (intergenerational and age-specific)

  • Bible Studies

  • Retreats

We encourage you to find a group in which to connect and grow in the knowledge and love of the Lord.

Walt Miller, M.Ed. (wmiller@stjohnsparish.net) is our Community Pastor and Director of Faith Formation. His passion is helping people worship, find the right life group, develop a personal spiritual "life rule", and engage in the "good works prepared for us to walk in". He would love to chat with you over coffee so you please contact him at the church, 559-9560 or at the email link above.

Formation is a long, hard work. God saved the Hebrews from slavery (in our case to sin) and then let them choose whether to cross the Jordan into the Kingdom or not. They chose "No". How can you prepare yourself so your answer will daily be a resounding “Yes!”?
