Confirmation, Reception, Reaffirmation

In the book of Acts, we observe the activity and work of the Holy Spirit through the laying on of hands by God’s appointed leaders in the Church. The laying on of hands by the bishop is the physical sign of the grace given by the Holy Spirit for daily growth in wisdom, courage, and humility before God in every aspect of our life and work. In the Anglican tradition, there are three opportunities to receive the laying on of hands; confirmation, reception, and reaffirmation.

Confirmation - those already baptized seeking to make a public profession of faith in the Church.
Reception - those baptized and professed their faith in another church, but seek to be received into the Anglican Church.
Reaffirmation - those already confirmed who are seeking or experiencing renewal of the Holy Spirit within the life of the Church.

The content of teaching for these areas include the Creeds (faith), the Lord’s Prayer (hope), and the Ten Commandments (love). These areas will be explored within the context of Holy Scripture and in our practice within the Anglican tradition. No matter your previous experience with confirmation, all are welcome to prayerfully consider being a part of this “catechesis” group.
