The women of the church also have a special opportunity Monday, August 25 at 10AM to have a Meet & Greet with Bp Jeremiah in Resurrection Hall.

Who is Bp Jeremiah?
As a young boy, Bishop Jeremiah and his siblings fled South Sudan after his village was raided and plundered during the brutal civil war, which left many in his village dead. While his father was fighting for South Sudanese independence, Jeremiah's mother succumbed to dysentery from uninhabitable conditions and contaminated water in the war-torn region. Following his mother’s death, Jeremiah’s father returned to take Jeremiah and his two sisters on a 19-day journey to the Gambella region of Ethiopia as refugees. Once in Gambella, Jeremiah’s father returned to the military in South Sudan, leaving Jeremiah and his sisters without a parent in a new land with minimal means. Remembering his father's stern words—to always focus on God and education—Jeremiah pursued a new life of faith and learning. By comparing his native Nuer Bible to an English Bible, he learned to speak English. While translating for Bishop Mouneer during his visits to Gambella, Bishop Mouneer saw Jeremiah's potential and handpicked Jeremiah to attend the Alexandria School of Theology in Cairo, Egypt. Jeremiah ultimately learned Arabic and obtained a Bachelor of Theology while studying several subjects under the late Reverend Rick Belzer. After graduation from Alexandria, Jeremiah returned to Gambella, where he assisted Bishop Grant LeMarquand as a professor of theology at the Anglican Center and assisted Dr. Wendy LeMarquand as a translator for Nuer and Anuak patients. Jeremiah is currently the bishop for the Gambella Region of Ethiopia and will be a key speaker at the 2025 New Wineskins conference.
