Watch Out for Scams
As we start the new year, please be on guard for scam emails and texts. There is always a rise in scams this time of year, and scammers are constantly changing tactics to try to trick us. -Undue urgency Please note that all of the St John's Parish Church staff have email address which end with "@stjohnsparish.net". The most effective way to check if an email is a scam is to check if the email address matches the address of who supposedly sent it. If you ever receive an email from anyone at St John's Parish Church —be it staff or parishioner— which you are unsure about, call the Parish Office. Do not reply to the email or click on any links before verifying it's authenticity. |

What's Happening in Our Children's Ministry
We offer our sincere thanks to the parents and families who support our Children’s Ministry Program and to the children who participated in our Christmas program on December 21 and on Christmas Eve. With each child in costume and singing sweet Christmas carols, the children made the services truly special and joyful! Special thanks to Susan Baker, Sally Dixon and Julie Stroble for sharing their time and talents. Julie lovingly created the children’s costumes, while Susan and Sally provided music and leadership for the children’s choir. As we move into the season of Epiphany, our Children’s Ministry team will focus on Jesus’ early life, emphasizing God’s love revealed to the world through a child. Celebrating the Ministry of Jay and Paulette Withington
St. John's Parish Church is blessed by the ministries of Jay and Paulette Withington. We are thankful to Jay for serving in many ways from lay reader to usher with a heartfelt welcome to visitors and members on Sunday. His dedication to the vestry and especially as junior warden was beyond measure as he worked for the parish during our time of transition. Paulette also served our Lord through Daughters of the Holy Cross for many years of record keeping as secretary and faithfulness in His service. We are blessed to have them in our congregation. |

Blessing Baskets
Blessing Baskets distributes about 400 government boxes of food staples to people on the sea islands which come prepackaged with addresses. In addition to those boxes, Blessing Baskets packs perishable foods in bags to supplement the boxes and to give to people not eligible for government assistance. This is where we need help. Packing these bags is a huge undertaking from gathering, sorting, and packing the food into bags and its distribution. For more information please contact Walt Miller or Heath Gunther. |

A Prayer for our Parish
Dear Heavenly Father, Together we are united with the saints of the household of God; built upon the foundation of the apostles and prophets, with Jesus Christ himself being the cornerstone. In Christ alone our church is being joined together, and is growing into a holy temple of the Lord by the Spirit. By Your wisdom may we discern what You want us to build; Through Jesus Christ our Lord and the power of the Holy Spirit, Amen. |
