Our GriefShare group will start a new session Tuesday, September 15, at 6:30-8:00PM in the library at Resurrection Hall. If you are interested in participating or for more information, please contact Robin LaRoche.

No matter your previous experience with confirmation, all are welcome to prayerfully consider being a part of this “catechesis” group. We will review the Creeds, the Lord's Prayer and the Ten Commandments within the context of scripture and the Anglican tradition. Our plan is to begin October 4. Join us this Sunday, October 4 at 4PM, for a liturgy of the Blessing of the Animals at Resurrection Hall. We will have treats for pets and humans alike. This is a great opportunity for fellowship for the whole family.

Ladies, come join the Islands Community Bible Study as they kick off their next study with a luncheon and guest speaker. We will meet at 9:30AM in Resurrection Hall.

The Morning Prayer live stream just kicked back off this week. The start time has been moved to 8:30AM, and we are happy to have Fr. Joe Gasbarre and Ben Dixon joining Fr. Jeremy on an alternating schedule to lead Morning Prayer on Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays. During the service of Morning Prayer on Thursdays, we conclude the Office with The Great Litany, which begins on page 91 in the Book of Common Prayer.

The Great Litany, composed in 1544 by Archbishop Thomas Cranmer, is traditionally said during times of fasting or seasons of special need, but is not reserved for these times.  The Great Litany is an opportunity for us to draw near to God in prayer at any time.  It is a beautiful service in its own "rite" that include prayers to the Trinity, prayers for protection against all manner of evil, petitions for God’s blessing on church, state, and family, and concluding supplications to Christ.

The Great Litany is extensive, and all-encompassing – and yes, it is long. But once you start praying the Litany it will draw you in by the rhythm of the prayers, the repetition of the responses, and the logical progression of the content. As much as we pray the litany for others in need, its deep layers also nourish our own hearts. The litany is a rich banquet of prayer for the soul. As J.I. Packer put it: “Do you ever dry up in prayer, feeling you have nothing to say? Live with the Litany, and that will not happen again!” (The Gospel in the Prayer Book, p. 15).

Save the Date: November 12, for a night of fellowship and food. Our grill masters are planning to prepare all sorts of venison, boar, fish, dove, alligator and maybe even squirrel. This event will be $100 a person with all of the proceeds going to help fund building the kitchen for the new property. More info to come.

We are excited to prepare another wonderful year of Sunday School at St. John’s Parish Church! Children 3 years old through 5th grade are invited to join us each Sunday as we learn about God’s love through Bible stories, prayer, crafts, music, and fellowship. Parents please see Angie Baughman after Sunday's service to complete a 2026–2027 Sunday School registration form and sign the photo release authorization for your child. We look forward to welcoming our children back to Sunday School and to a joyful year of learning and growing in faith!
