Announcing our New Associate Rector

Announcing our New Associate Rector

The Rev. Joe Gasbarre has accepted the call to join the staff of St. John's Parish Church full time beginning in July. Joe is joined in ministry with his wife, Alyssa, and two sons Joey (11) and Charlie (8).

Fr. Joe brings a wealth of biblical, theological, discipleship, preaching, and ministry gifts and experience to St. John's Parish Church.  Please be in prayer as the Gasbarre family is preparing their home in Savannah to sell, move to Johns Island, and find a home here!  If you know of a temporary rental home (until they can buy) please contact Vestry member Ashley Grandin.

We will officially welcome Fr. Joe and family later in July.  Please be on the lookout for more details.

Thank You Cards from Haut Gap

Thank You Cards from Haut Gap

Haut Gap was so grateful for the support from St. John's Parish Church this year. The students sent us several cards to show their appreciation. Take a look this Sunday. They will be on display in the Connection Corridor.

A Friendly Reminder:

Please remember when writing your checks for the church to put "St. John's Parish Church" in the Pay to the Order of line. Then designate what it is for in the memo line. There are several St. John's churches in the area and the banks require our full name listed on the check.

What's Happening in Our Children's Ministry

We will wrap up the Sunday School year by revisiting some of our favorite Bible stories — from the parable of the Prodigal Son to Zacchaeus.  We will meet Jesus in each of these stories and learn that Jesus loves us very much!

Acolytes

Acolytes

Acolytes are an important part of the Sunday morning liturgy. They assist at the altar, carry the processional cross, light and extinguish the candles, and assist the priest in other duties dedicated to our worship services. Currently, we have seven teenagers who faithfully serve as acolytes. We will have an acolyte training late this summer. Please contact Rob Schluter if you're interested in serving the Lord and the congregation as an acolyte.

A Prayer for our Nation

Almighty God, who hast given us this good land for our heritage:  Bless our land and people with honor, integrity, and good conduct. Save us from violence, discord, and confusion; from pride and arrogance, and from every evil way. Endue with the spirit of wisdom those to whom, in thy Name, we entrust the authority of government, that there be justice and peace for all citizens. Fill our hearts with thankfulness and grant us grace to put our trust in Christ alone; all of this we ask through our Savior Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

(Adapted from the Prayer for Our Nation, Book of Common Prayer p. 657).

A Prayer for our Parish

Dear Heavenly Father,

Together we are united with the saints of the household of God; built upon the foundation of the apostles and prophets, with Jesus Christ himself being the cornerstone. In Christ alone our church is being joined together, and is growing into a holy temple of the Lord by the Spirit. By Your wisdom may we discern what You want us to build; Through Jesus Christ our Lord and the power of the Holy Spirit,

Amen.
