What's Happening in Our Children's Ministry
It's a joy to share that our elementary children have completed three First Communion classes. We extend our sincere thanks to Fr. John Sosnowski for faithfully leading them through this important preparation and to the parents of these children for their faithfulness to bring the children to church. We are also deeply grateful for the faithful encouragement of Susan Baker and Pam Hanckel, whose dedication to children’s ministry brought this vision to life. Because of all of you, 25 children participated in this class. What a joy it will be to see these children receive Communion on Easter Sunday—celebrating not only the risen Christ, but doing so with a deeper understanding of His love and sacrifice. As we look ahead to celebrating Easter, please note there will be no Sunday school on Easter Sunday, though nursery care will be available. Sunday school classes will resume on Sunday, April 12. Charleston County Youth Detention Center
St. John’s Parish Church has a special partnership with the Charleston County Youth Detention Center. The parish ministers to the youth through prayer, cards and gift bags of toiletries and snacks throughout the year. Parishioners provide cards with personal notes sharing God’s love, hope and encouragement. We also address special needs for the Detention Center as they arise, such as the donation of a basketball goal and implementing a seedling/plant program. Every Sunday we send a team as a continuation of our Holy Eucharist service to the detention center, and we are thrilled to be allowed to baptize one of the residents the Sunday after Easter. Please keep these youths in your prayers as the Lord is doing amazing things through this ministry. |

A Prayer for our Parish
Dear Heavenly Father, Together we are united with the saints of the household of God; built upon the foundation of the apostles and prophets, with Jesus Christ himself being the cornerstone. In Christ alone our church is being joined together, and is growing into a holy temple of the Lord by the Spirit. By Your wisdom may we discern what You want us to build; Through Jesus Christ our Lord and the power of the Holy Spirit, Amen. |
